In order to know the meaning of the term disqualification, it is necessary to know its etymological origin. In this case, we can state that it comes from disqualifying that it is a word that derives from Latin, since it is the result of the sum of three clearly delimited components, such as these:
-The prefix “des-”, which is used to indicate the reversal of the action.
-The noun “qualitas”, which is synonymous with “quality”.
-The verb “facere”, which can be translated as “to do”.
Disqualification is the process and consequence of disqualifying. This verb (disqualify) can be used with reference to denigrate, offend or discredit something or someone. For example: “I will not accept another disqualification from you, so I ask you to be careful with your words”, “The government resorts to disqualification when it does not know how to defend its projects”, “The Disciplinary Court announced the disqualification of the player Swiss for his violent conduct.
The idea of disqualification can be associated with a criticism that is expressed to minimize the condition or capacity of the other with the aim of nullifying it. By disqualifying a person, the possibility of having a dialogue is eliminated.
Let us suppose that a journalist consults the mayor of a municipality about the declarations of an opposition leader and the communal chief affirms: “He is ignorant and does not know the reality of the region, I am not going to waste time answering him”. It can be said, therefore, that the mayor opted for the disqualification of his opponent so as not to debate with him.
In the same way, at a legal level the term disqualification is also used. In this case it is used to talk about disqualification from subsidized housing. What this term comes to mean is that the protected dwellings become free dwellings upon the extinction of the Protection Regime of these houses.
Specifically, this disqualification can occur for two main reasons:
-As a consequence of a sanction that had been imposed.
-Voluntarily because it has been requested by the owner of the home. An application that must be submitted, within the established deadlines, to the General Directorate of Housing and Rehabilitation.
Of course, in order to achieve this aforementioned disqualification, it is necessary to meet a series of requirements such as that the home is not rented by a tenant or that the owner has not received financial aid from state housing plans, among others. Likewise, this may not be requested for official protection housing for public promotion or social integration.
In sports, disqualification is a punishment for a rule violation. In an NBA game, to cite one case, when a player accumulates six personal fouls, he is disqualified: he must be replaced by another and can no longer return to the game. In athletics, a runner who makes a false start (beginning to run before the starting signal) is punished by disqualification.
